For the second part of my Photos of the Year for 2010, I'll keep the chronological theme going. Here are some of my favorite personal shots from May through July.

PHOTOS OF THE YEAR 2010: PADDY MCGRATH - PT.II
Picking up where I left off in part one, we return back to the 2010 ADAC Nürburgring 24HR where the #76 Team Need for Speed car has just crossed the start / finish line to begin it's last lap.
Canon EOS 5D MKII, 70mm, 1/80, F9, ISO100
Team NFS BMW Z4, ADAC Nürburgring 24HR, Germany. The spectator stands had significantly filled out for the last dash to the finish line. Although I could of gone with a colour image, I felt the black and white conversion worked really well. By using a wide field of view it helped to show off the size of the venue. As the car was going pretty quick at this section, I could use a marginally higher shutter speed to capture the same motion compared to if the car was going slower.

PHOTOS OF THE YEAR 2010: PADDY MCGRATH - PT.I
What a year. Just what an incredible year it has been. To think, in January of this year I was still working behind the counter of a local Blockbuster dreaming of a life beyond and just twelve months later I'm looking back at what, without any question, has been the greatest year of my life. I've experienced more in my first eight months as a full time Speedhunter than I have in the last ten years. I'm a lucky SOAB too, there are plenty of other guys out there who would kill for this position but with lots of hard work and perseverance I've managed to land this, my dream job. Even if I can't write as good as I'd like (It's something i'm working on) I still give it 110% everytime I'm out there because I want to bring you back the absolute best coverage I can put together.

PHOTOS OF THE YEAR 2010: JOHN BROOKS PART ONE
The days contract, the temperature plummets, the leaves fall from the trees, it is December once again. The top of my personal hour-glass is a year's worth of sand less than it was just 12 months ago. I suspect that particular glass is more than half empty despite my abiding optimism. So what does this handful of dust represent? In reality not much, my personal Hejira is just chicken scratching, of little lasting consequence. Perhaps the one thing that was of note is writing for the SpeedHunters' Tribe. So in common with the other esteemed contributors I will use the short days and lack of events to cover as an opportunity to mull over the images of 2010 and offer them once again for your entertainment and hopefully, approval.
2010 was a year when the light did not shine at the tracks and also in so many other ways, dull day after dull day, produces photography that does not pop. How I envy those who work the sunny side of the street but if our job can be distilled into one catch phrase it would be "Turn Chicken S*** into Chicken Salad". So you just try and achieve the optimal outcome with the ingredients that are to hand.
So are the results haute cuisine or .........? Try some and let me know.

PHOTOS OF THE YEAR 2010: MIKE GARRETT PART ONE
Welcome to December! With the coming of the last month of 2010, all of us Speedhunters go through our photos and choose our favorites or the most memorable images of the year.
Let's get right to it. Here's my first batch, spanning from January through April.
(above) Walden Speed Shop, Pomona, California. My visit to Walden Speed Shop was an interesting one. Rod handled, the "reporting" duties while I did nothing but snap photos using his array of cool lenses. Sometimes it's amazing what nice glass can do!
Redline Time Attack, Buttonwillow Raceway California. For some reason I always get good shots of the Evasive Motorsports Evo time attack car. Always.
Starlite Garage, Torrance California. The sunlight of a beautiful SoCal winter day shines on the paintwork of the Starlite Garage '60 Oldsmobile.
