New Car Style, First Drive: 2010 Bentley Continental Supersports

2010 Bentley Continental Supersports

Bentley has always been something very sophisticated: a beautiful appearance combined with smooth ride. And 2010 Bentley Continental Supersports fits this definition as well. The car weighs 2.5 tons, but when you press gas pedal, it flies from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds.
Sitting on soft leather seats it is easy to entrust yourself into the hands of British specialists who created this powerful two-seater. Supersports became the first production version of Bentley that could reach 100 mph about 80 years ago, but now it can go up to 204 mph. The 2010 Bentley runs on 621 horses which come from a twin-turbo 6.0-liter W12 engine. Its torque is also increased comparing to the previous year model: it gets 590 pound-feet between 1,700 and 5,600 rpm.
The car is operated through ZF six-speed automatic transmission which changes gear in one-tenth of a second. This allows cutting the ignition and fuel delivery for quicker upshifts and downshifts. The transmission also gives an opportunity to skip while downshifting: for example, the driver can change from 6th to 4th avoiding going to 5th.
The manufacturer has not forgotten about environmental friendliness: the engine will eagerly accept E85 and the special sensor in the fuel system allows recognizing a mix of gasoline and alcohol in the fuel and adjusting fuel pressure to level out the power.
It has been a long time since Bentley built its last sport car and with the 2010 Continental Supersport it has proven that its specialists are still able to do a marvelous job!
