SWEETEST DAY!
Sweetest Day is celebrated each year on the third Saturday of October - Oct 16th this year. Many consider Sweetest Day to be a second Valentine’s Day, but it's actually a day to celebrate all the people who make your life special - and for me, that means all of YOU!
So for this Sweetest Day I'm going to do a big giveaway!
Does your sweetie buy for you? Do you buy for your sweetie? Or both?
What's your favorite gift for Sweetest Day? Chocolates, flowers, dinner out - or something else? (I like all of the above, plus lots of pampering. I'm lucky enough that I usually get it. LOL)
What's your most memorable Sweetest Day - even if it didn't happen on the 3rd Saturday of October? ;-)
*I'll do a random drawing from all the posts!*
First name drawn gets a T-shirt, tote bag, and an autographed 5 book set of my "SBC Fighters," including Causing Havoc, Simon Says, Hard to Handle, My Man Michael, andBack in Black. T-shirts are mens size XL.
Second and third names drawn get T-shirts, tote bags, and autographed copies of my November title Bewitched, featuring reissues of In Too Deep and Married to the Boss.
Fourth and fifth names drawn will get autographed copies of my October title, Yule Be Mine, featuring reissues of my novellas He Sees You When You're Sleeping, White Knight Christmas, Do You Hear What I Hear, and The Christmas Present.
Names will be posted on here Sunday night.
Each poster whose name is drawn will be responsible for contacting me with her mailing address.
Good luck everyone!
And HAPPY SWEETEST DAY to you!

Mine was getting a backrub complete with scented candle and hand lotion after a nice dinner out that put me to sleep. I LOve backrubs and everyone knows I am completely incoherent during and after a backrub.

This is going to sound so lame, but it's true. And lame.
My significant other NEVER remembers any particular holiday actually on that holiday, so it's always "makeup" day with him. And he knows me perfectly well, so makeup day involved him sending me off with a big GC and my dad to the book store (my dad's a fellow bookie and we ooh and aah over each other's finds).
So I came home blissed out, he ordered dinner in and I ended up gorged on my favorite portabella pasta, chocolate and a stack of books.
Not terribly romantic in the couples/passionate way, but it was something he knew I loved, so it qualified as Sweetest.

My Sweetest Day was after a long hard day at work on Valentines Day, I came back home to my apartment where my husband had surprised me with dinner (he doesn't cook alot) and a cake on the table. After while relaxing on the couch, he took my promise ring he gave me to "clean" it. When he went to put it back on my finger, I noticed that it was an engagement ring.

Hi, Lori! Happy Sweetest Day to you : ) Thank you for offering such a fabulous giveaway! I love Fall, and October is my favorite month. I briefly dated someone who was very thoughtful, and he knew that I was an Autumn person. He did send me a wonderful Fall-themed gift basket. Sparkling cider, cookies, chocolate, cheese, fruit, wine glasses, and candles were all in the basket. He wrote a beautiful note to go with the gift, and I was very touched. This was an "almost romance". By Valentine's Day, we were just friends. I'll always have that "Sweetest Day" memory to keep : )

The best Sweetest Day gift I ever received was from our first. We had agreed to do something for each other that one found to be a extra treat due to funds. I woke up to find a hand made card, 1-20 ounce bottle of Mt. Dew and one Almond Joy candy bar. It may sound simple but it was the best ever. I still have the card as well as the wrapper for my candy! I found this between my door before leaving for work. I still have not figured out how he managed to get it all there because of our work schedule!

My sweetest day (aside from my son being born) is my anniversary every year. I like massages. I love to go to the spa & be pampered. I also love purses & perfume. Those are my favorite things to get! We don't do as much gift exchanging as we used to since our son was born. We had rather spend the money on him than on ourselves.

My Sweetest day gift is usually on my Birthday (along with a gift, usually books!). My hubby does all the housework, cooking and takes care of the kids so I can enjoy one whole day of doing nothing but reading.
It is the best day for me!
Happy Sweetest day to you, Lori!

Mine is just dinner and a movie. It can be out to a movie or just something at home. It's mostly just about the time together. Sometimes it seems like we are always out with others, so having an evening that is just US is one of the best things. We do it every year.

I've met and fallen in love with the most romantic guy in the world (lol) so he had a special colorful handkerchief made with our names, and our special catchphrase, FOREVER & ALWAYS along with a beautiful handwritten card and his personal love poem to me. He had the handkerchief placed into a white frame and said it signifies the purity of our love. I thought the idea of decorating a handkerchief was so original. Is that not the most loving thing ever?

I think one of the sweetest things that my husband and I do, is have our "date night". We both have crazy lifes, with him having a stressful job, and me staying home with the two kids, and running the household. We try to do it once a month, but funds aren't always there. We like to try and go out for dinner at least, just to get away and catch up with everything. It is nice to be able to have those couple of hours without kids screaming and fighting.

I love a day at the spa to be pampered. It's so relaxing with the lighting, the music, the temperature. It just feels like you are surrounded with a big hug. Of course chocolates, flowers, and dinner out are nice too. Stolen moments away from the world give you a chance to recharge and recommit.

Sweetest Day???? What's that?? Is it suppose to be like Valentines Day? My husband comes home and says "Where's my dinner woman?" I respond by telling him to bite me and walk away. That Jerk! He says "I'll take care of it" and then proceeds to take us all out for burgers. He's such a romantic!

CHOCOLATE of course is my favorite. My hubby and I normally give each other chocolate, sometimes he will surprise me with flowers. Never heard of Sweetest Day... but glad you advise... now I will have to let him know... so then we can get extra chocolate. My mom's birthday is the 16th as well.... she is a sweet lady! :) oh and don't forget about Boss's day is the 16th... Gosh so many things going on that day.... But I will definitely make sure there's chocolate to go around.

My husband bought me flowers, and treated me to meals and was so sweet when we brought our son home, will never forget those days, they happy and sweet at same time!

We really don't celebrate Sweetest Day but I do have the sweetest husband. After being married for 23 years I've learned it's the little things that mean the most.
Him offering to pick up milk on the way home from work so I don't have to go to the grocery store, him bringing home flowers just because, him going to my mom's to help her out with something, him cleaning up the kitchen after supper, and so many other little things that make my life easier.

Hi Lori,I never celebrated Sweetest Day before and with kids its hard to romantically celebrate Valentine's Day especially if it falls on a weekday with kids activities to run to. But we do try to go out to eat with the kids because they are our loves too!
However, my personal "sweetest day" was on my birthday a few years back. Hubby surprised me with a day off and he woke up early to get the kids ready and put them on the bus. He allowed me to sleep in and made me breakfast in bed and we just had a quiet day to ourselves. Ahhh! Bliss! Sometimes its the little things that you enjoy the most!

Wow! Alot of Sweetest Day anniversaries. Holidays stress me out, so the past couple of years I've tried to ignore Sweetest Day, but dang it, that husband almost always remembers and runs to Krogers for flowers and a card at the last minute. And then I feel guilty and make it up to him...

Was not on sweetest day but was the SWEETEST day ever:
My husband and I were engaged and had not started on any wedding plans. I came home one day and Jeff handed me a notebook. He said I had to go through it page by page. Finally, after 300 pages of NOTHING, I get to the end. There, in his neat writing, were all the details of the wedding and reception. He had planned EVERYTHING. He had everything booked and deposits made. I had to pick out flowers but he made the appointment. I had to pick out dresses for me and my bridesmaids. I even got to pick the wedding colors. I had to do SO LITTLE. It was SO NICE! I was so excited. Our wedding was exactly 2 months after that. It was very formal and gorgeous. We had over 200 people in attendance. My husband is a great planner!! That was almost 14 years ago. I still love that man more every day!

My sweetest day started off a little hairy: My boyfriend and I met up with his best friend and his new girlfriend for a double date for a late lunch and then some fireworks. The food was great - the new girlfriend was awful. The date got more and more full of tension, but my boyfriend is real polite. Anyways, she said something awful, and I had just had enough, so I took off. I expected him to stay, being polite, but halfway home, I heard someone running behind me, turned around and it was him. I just stood there, confused until he got to me and smiled and asked me why I would ever think he wouldn't be with me, on my side, and then my whole day just turned up for the better. :)
Thanks for the giveaway!

My husband so does NOT do the holiday-of-any-kind-thing. I have to pretty much shop for myself or arrange our romantic nights. He goes along with it all happily but it would be nice if he did some of the work! I'd have to say though, for me, it would so be a dinner out. Just the two of us. That is the most precious time together. Sigh...someday soon, hopefully.

Hi Lori...Happy Sweetest day to you!!! My husband use to be the most romantic man by surprising me with flowers for just because. Now that we have kids we really don't get that time together like we use to. I look forward to date night each month so that we have time together with out the kids. Even if we don't go out for date nights a nice dinner in with a movie is just as nice. Spending time with my hubby is the most important thing to me.

Happy Sweetest Day! The best ever unofficial sweetest day was when my Boyfriend and I managed to have both our kids gone with friends/family and could carve out a date night/sleepover. With so much going on that day with errands and chores both of us, he came over and found me napping so he settled in to nap alongside. It was a nice way to wake up and then proceed with our date refreshed. I felt special because of his respect to my need for the nap and I felt like I had given him the same gift which he obviously had needed. He has 5 kids and I have 2 and our time alone together is always precious and we don't usually plan to sleep most of it away.

My sweetest day was when my hubby surprised me with weekend get away. I was so shock I could only stand there and look at him like he had two heads. He took care of everything. The only thing I had to do was pack a few things. I asked him why and his reply was "You deserve it for everthing you do for this family." How many times as a Mother do you feel unappreciated. Nice to know that sometimes you are appreciated. To this day when I think of that surprise I smile and give a great big sigh. That moment will forever be remembered as one of the sweetest days of my life even if it seems small to someone else. Yes, I am a lucky woman.

Besides the days my daughters were born, I have had two *Sweetest* days. Hubby knew I didn't feel well and not only did he fix dinner, he washed the dishes. If you knew him you would understand why this is so special to me. He does give me GC's on my birthday and sometimes on our anniversary when he remembers it but his washing the dishes totally made me feel loved.

If I see something that reminds me of my sweetie or that I think he'll enjoy, I'll buy it for him. Usually a book or a gadget, sometimes a bottle of wine or something special for dinner. He doesn't usually reciprocate with gifts but it's okay because he's a hard-working man who consistently tries to make our lives better. We've been married for 20 years, but today he said that he'd like to take me on a date tomorrow night...I realized it's the anniversary of the night he proposed so I'm really excited to see what he has planned. My favorite thing to do is to get two coffee drinks and drive along the coast...it's one of the few times we get to really talk without distractions! Fun contest, Lori.

My hubby doesn't believe in "western holidays", he says they are artificial and that everyday should be a day to honor each other. Annoying yet sweet huh? I was really sick recently with a nasty combination of a cold, allergies, and bronchitis. I was not sleeping good and definitely not up to cooking. He surprised me with a take out meal from my favorite restaurant, he did the dishes and the laundry (even hung it up!!!), he went to the pharmacy to get some allergy meds, and finally he gave me a great back rub. What a guy!!!!
