MILTON KEYNES, UNITED KINGDOM – October 2, 2010: The talents of young men and women working in Suzuki GB PLC’s authorised repair, body repair and paint shops are being put to the test in a national competition. Suzuki is supporting this year’s SkillAuto contest and encouraging its technicians to step up for the challenge.
The competition, organised by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI), has three categories open to light vehicle, panel and paint technicians who have achieved level 2 or 3 skills qualifications and have up to three years’ experience. Following a preliminary on-line test, the best candidates go forward to regional heats where their practical abilities are judged. The winners from this round then progress to the national final in 2011. The best of the best will also be able to compete in the international WorldSkills event in London.
Denis Houston, Suzuki GB Aftersales Director said: “The SkillAuto competition presents a perfect opportunity for our technicians to increase their confidence, their work skills and their all-round competence, and for Suzuki to promote excellence in the workplace.
“We have some great young people hard at work across the country and to see them tested in this way will send out a positive message, not only to their colleagues but also to our customers about the quality of service our teams deliver.”
As an extra incentive, should a Suzuki technician win the final, Suzuki will add a £1,500 technology bundle to their prize haul.
