Step 2: Install New Spark Plugs

Before getting started, consult your owner's manual for the recommended maintenance schedule for changing your vehicle's spark plugs. It's important to change the entire set of plugs at one at a time. Remove and install each plug before moving on to the next.
Use anti-seize lubricant when installing new spark plugs. When installing new plugs be sure to set the recommended gap, maintain the proper firing order and "never" over tighten a plug.

Step 3: Change Spark Plug Wires

Since plugs work together with spark-plug wires, it's important to change the wires at the same time. Use tape or a clothes pin to keep the wires in the correct firing order. Gap and replace one plug at a time to ensure the correct order is maintained and use a torque wrench to tighten the new plugs so you don't crack the porcelain. Apply anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the new plugs, if required, so it's easier to remove the next time you replace the plugs.
To keep a free-flowing fuel line, replace your fuel filter every 12,000 miles. First, release the pressure in the fuel line. If you have a fuel-injected vehicle, be sure to release the pressure in your fuel line "prior" to changing the fuel filter. Turn the engine off, disable your fuel pump either at the fuel pump turnoff switch or by pulling the fuse to your fuel pump. Then start your vehicle. It won't run long, but it will relieve the pressure.

Step 4: Replace the Fuel Filter and 02 Sensor(s)

Then locate the fuel filter. Disconnect the fuel line as recommended and install the new one -- being sure the arrow that indicates fuel flow is pointed in the right direction. Some vehicles come equipped with a Schrader valve to release the pressure. Vehicles vary, of course, so be sure to check your owner's manual for instructions on replacing your fuel filter.
Finally, using a torque wrench fitted with an 02 sensor socket, remove the 02 sensor located along side the exhaust manifold and replace. Your vehicle may have more than one 02 sensor, so be sure to replace them all.
