The Progressive Automotive X-Prize has produced a video of the Finnish RaceAbout team’s entry to the X-Prize contest. The sport coupe, which has won 2nd place in the side-by-side tandem class is surely one of the better-designed cars among entrants, in terms of styling.
The RaceAbout is powered by a 32 KWh Lithium-Titanate batteries and has four individual motors–one powering each wheel. The great thing about this technology is that the battery is said to charge in as little as 10 minutes, and does not output too much heat. No word whether this is a partial or full charge, but it’s likely a 90% charge in that 10 minute span, which is already impressive in itself.
The sport coupe is built on a monocoque construction with an entirely carbon-fiber body. The clincher: the car was designed and built from ground up by college students. The RaceAbout was said to be a favorite among entrants to the Automotive X-Prize because of its performance, looks and speed.
